Prayer Topics

July 7th, 2010

Please remember to pray for Camp before, during and after the event. To assist you in praying for us here is a short list of topics/areas you might like to include – please pass this around your churches too:Praying Hands

  • David Putman:
    • David will be cycling to Camp to raise money for SOFT UK, a charity which supports parents of children with Patau’s and Edwards’ Syndrome (a chromosomal disorder which affects babies during pregnancy).  Please also consider sponsoring him too.
    • please pray for safety (and peace of mind for his mum!), good health and good spirits – and that his saddle-sore wouldn’t be too uncomfortable ;o)
  • First time campers/staff:
    • we are delighted to have some brand new Campers and Staff this year, but it can be quite daunting coming to Camp for the first time
    • please pray that they would feel welcome and settle into Camp life quickly and painlessly.
  • New Group
    • this year, for the first time in Camp’s long history, we are being joined by a non-Brigade group. We are really pleased that some members & staff of Friday Frenzy (part of Whaddon Way Church) will be at Camp this year
    • please pray for our new friends as they anticipate Camp, settle in and join the family.
  • Staffing:
    • we are blessed with a strong team of dedicated Staff who ensure that Camp is well-organised and well-run, but this year we have a slightly smaller team than usual with a number of staff missing in key areas
    • please pray for those areas with fewer staff than normal, that others will be able to fill in the gaps, and be strengthened in the process.
  • Chaplaincy Activities:
    • we are proud of our Christian faith and it now forms the backbone of everything else we do at Camp
    • please pray that the Lord would prepare people’s hearts prior to Camp, and would inspire the Chaplaincy team to develop a challenging and appropriate programme of worship, devotions & activities
  • Safety:
    • everything we do at Camp, from travelling down, to putting up the flag poles, from go-karting, to quad-biking, and even walking to Church, contains an element of risk. Of course, we do everything we can to reduce the risks to a manageable level, but it can’t all be eliminated
    • Please pray for the safety of every element of Camp life.

We will also post any specific requests which come to light during Camp too (isn’t technology great!).

Please download a PDF document containing these prayer points and distribute them at your Church and to your friends and family.

Staff Meeting: 8th November

November 3rd, 2009

This weekend we have our first Staff Meeting to plan for Camp 2010. The meeting will be at Lovat Hall on Sunday 8th November 2009 and will start at 8pm, and is open to all who will be 18+ by the start of Camp.

Please do your best to attend as we will be discussing a number of important issues, and appointing people to various roles. Please also prayerfully consider your role at Camp 2010, and who we should appoint to other roles.

Baptism Celebration…

December 31st, 2008

Waters of BaptismYou are invited to join us for a very special celebration this Sunday.

Change your life. Turn to God and be baptised, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven. Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. – Acts 2:38

On Sunday 4th January, 2009, at 10:30am we will meet together at Lovat Hall to worship God and celebrate the Baptism of Aaron Elmer, and everyone is welcome! We were really pleased at Camp this year when Aaron gave his life to the Lord after a period of questioning and exploring his understanding of faith, and we look forward to joining with him as he makes this public declaration of that faith. Please pray for Aaron as he prepares for this big event in his life, and please join us there…

Uphill Struggle

Opendoor Project - ExmouthAt Camp this year we organised a special offering as a gift to the Kingsway Church to support the OpenDoor project which has been set-up in Exmouth. During the service on Sunday we heard about a young guy, Dan, who was intending to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the project.  It was set-up to make a positive difference to the local community by providing services which meet the pratical needs of vulnerable people.  More details are available on the website and in their latest newsletter.

Anyway, I’ve just received the following email from David Ley the OpenDoor project manager:

Hi, Ricky

I thought you might like to know that the guys reached John O’Groats on Monday this week at about 2pm. They were exhausted but thrilled to have made it. We haven’t met them yet to chat about their experiences, but I’ll hope to catch up with them soon.

Please say a big thank you to everyone on the camp team who contributed. Your encouragement to them was a great boost to their determination to reach the finish.

See you when you’re next in Exmouth, maybe.

Very many thanks again,

David

So thank you to everyone who contributed.  Please continue to pray for both the Kingsway Church and the exciting OpenDoor project.
