Info for First Time Campers

June 30th, 2011

We are really pleased that we have a lot of first timers joining us at Camp again this year.

We have a page of information specifically for those who haven’t been to Camp before. In the past we have published further information which may be of use, but which is now hidden in the archives (which you can access from the right column). So to help everyone out here are some of those articles:

Whilst it is your responsibility to keep in touch with family and friends back home [if you chose to ;o) ], they can stay in touch with what you’re getting up to at Camp by visiting the website. We do our best to post photos and short updates to the website whilst we’re away – so be sure to pass the website address onto them – and of course you get to enjoy the updates once we all get back. This year they will also be able to follow our adventures on Twitter & Facebook.

As ever though, if you still have questions that you’d like to see answered here please let us know.

Chaplaincy Books

June 29th, 2011

As Camp approaches at great speed, it’s time for me to organise the books we want to take for the Chaplaincy Tent. Unfortunately there are still a number out on loan. If you borrowed books from the Chaplaincy Tent last year, or from the Chaplaincy Team during the year, can you please:

  • get in touch and let us know what you have
  • then either:
    • return them to Ricky prior to Camp
    • take them to Camp with you and return them to the Chaplaincy Tent

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading them and found them useful and helpful – but please return them so that others can enjoy them too.

Prayer Topics

June 28th, 2011

Praying HandsPlease remember to pray for Camp before, during and after the event. To assist you in praying for us here is a short list of topics/areas you might like to include – please pass this around your churches too:

  • First time campers/staff:
    • we are delighted to have some brand new Campers and Staff joining us this year, but it can be quite daunting coming to Camp for the first time
    • please pray that they would feel welcome and settle into Camp life quickly and painlessly.
  • Another New Group
    • after the successful integration of the Friday Frenzy group last year, this year we’re delighted to welcome some young people from Loughton Baptist Church
    • please pray for our new friends as they anticipate Camp, settle in and join the family.
  • Staffing:
    • we are blessed with a strong team of dedicated Staff who ensure that Camp is well-organised and well-run, but this year we have a slightly smaller team than usual with a number of staff missing in key areas
    • please pray for those areas with fewer staff than normal, that others will be able to fill in the gaps, and be strengthened in the process.
  • Chaplaincy Activities:
    • we are proud of our Christian faith and it forms the backbone of everything else we do at Camp
    • please pray that the Lord would prepare people’s hearts prior to Camp, and would inspire the Chaplaincy team to develop a challenging and appropriate programme of worship, devotions & activities
    • pray that the musicians who lead our worship would be filled with the Spirit!
  • Safety:
    • everything we do at Camp, from travelling down, to putting up the flag pole, from go-karting, to quad-biking, and even walking to Church, contains an element of risk. Of course, we do everything we can to reduce the risks to a manageable level, but it can’t all be eliminated
    • Please pray for the safety of every element of Camp life.

We will also post any specific requests which come to light during Camp too (isn’t technology great!).

Please download a PDF document containing these prayer points and distribute them at your Church and to your friends and family.

Camp Deposit Due

March 22nd, 2011

There are now only 126 to go until the start of Camp 2011!

Please remember that if you’re planning to join us this year you need to pay the £25 deposit to your group leader by 27th March. It’s important that we know how many people are coming so the Working Group can make sure we plan efficiently and get everything booked. [if you're joining us from Loughton Baptist Church, you have a little longer - speak to Claire]

If you need another Camp Form you can download it from the Latest News page. Staff and Assistant Staff will need to get in touch if they need another invitation letter.

If there is anything else you need, you know what to do.
